Dorms

Hi everyone!

I’ve been accepted into the University of Texas at Austin, but I’m still looking for a place to live. I’ve applied to Callaway but I am deep down the waiting list  so need to look for backups. I’m a guy so that eliminates the famed all-girls dorms so I’m going to try and look for a private dorm.

First off, I’m NOT going to go Greek. And I’m not a partier at all and plan not to drink in college. So I’m looking for a place where I can study and have peace and quiet (Mech Engineering!). So that rules out the towers. My main priority is to have a quiet place to live that’s not crazy with partying. (I know there are study floors but at some places even those are noisy).

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Why don’t you live on campus?

What would be some good campus dorms? I’ve looked through some but don’t know too much about them

@Suns97 I live in San Jacinto, and it’s a pretty cool dorm! The rooms are spacious, you get a private bathroom, and there’s a cafe and study lounges throughout the halls. Everyone’s pretty friendly too. It’s quiet enough, meaning, you might hear occasional chatter down the hall, but nothing over the top. Plus, the PCL (Perry-Castañeda Library) is right down the street, along with the Jester Center, where you can choose from even more places to eat.

Hope this helps!

Yea I’m thinking about either San jac or Castilian. Do you have any insight on castillian?

@Suns97‌ I stayed at the Castillian around 3 years ago for a summer camp at UT and the room I was in was pretty cramped and lame overall. The food was decent

I hear that Castillian is being renovated and I’ve seen the new rooms and it looks pretty spacious. I’m just worried about location, atmosphere, etc. I also thought that Castillian had bad security and was really noisy, anyone know about that?
