Dorms

Could any SLU students tell me what each dorm is like? I can look it up online, but I want to know the reputation for different ones. I’ve heard Griesedieck is rowdier, is that true? I’m more a quiet, reserved person but still want to be social and make friends. If anyone could let me know a bit about the freshman dorms that’d be great!

Griesedieck is the biggest dorm. I think the rowdiness will just depend on the kids around you. Moving day in Gries is a nightmare, I hear, because it’s like 16 floors with limited elevators. I have a daughter who is now a freshman at SLU and during her summer visit to campus (SLU 101), they changed their request to live in Fusz. They have an awesome room; most of the Fusz doubles are literally twice the size as most other dorm rooms. Plus they each have their own closet area and their own sink, mirror, and medicine cabinet/mirror. They do have both freshman and sophomores on their floor, but they wound up with a great group of kids and have made a ton of friends. (Btw, she didn’t know anyone going to SLU but did meet her roommate on the SLU Facebook page.) Fusz does have a lot of single rooms, so beware that if you choose it and don’t sign up with a roommate, you could wind up in a single.

My son lived in Clemens his freshman year and loved it. Clemons is the all-guy dorm connected to Gries but only a couple floors. (I think Walsh is the all-girl version). We had no nightmares moving in at all and he met great friends!

hey im a first year student and I hated when i couldnt get real answers on this website so i want to help others out,
Gries: is the more party dorm due to its location on campus mainly and because reinert is so studious in comparison. You and your floor become really good friends though
Walsh/clemens: kids build a strong community but since the dorms intersect, all end up hanging out which makes the dorm like gries essentially
Fusz: has a lot of singles, not anything else more notable
Reinert: is the studious dorm, if you want a quiet dorm come here because most students in this building are from a learning and wish to study/stay in vs party. The walk isnt that big of a deal but it will get annoying and become a hassle but the learning communities build real strong relationships and spend a lot of time together
Marg:a lot of micah and michas are like a cult so if you want a tight fraternity vibe and love service, so here.
