Dorms?

Hi all! I was recently admitted to Tufts (Yay I’m a baby Jumbo!) and I’d like to know how good the dorms are in general and what dorms most freshmen get to stay in? Thank you

Bump! If someone could give an overview of the different dorms available to freshmen and the pros and cons of each one that would be so helpful (:

Have you seen this ??

Hey! As a current freshmen living in South, I can say that my experience has overall been positive; dorms are a little small, but my roommate and I share a bathroom with two other people on our floor and it is very clean and quiet. That being said, South is known as one of the ‘nicer’ freshman dorms… I’ve heard horror stories about the Houston bathrooms, but they also definitely breed a stronger sense of community being all freshman. It really varies depending on where you live, and if it’s too much you don’t have to spend that much time in the dorm anyway. Basically your typical college dorm experience, and it is what you make of it.
Congratulations, let me know if you have any other questions!

Son lived in Houston as a freshman & loved how social it was. Made many good friends. His girlfriend lived in South, a nicer, newer dorm but not as social as Houston. She got the best of both worlds…lived in a beautiful new dorm but hung out in Houston and made a lot of friends there.
For sophomores, Wren seems to be a favorite.

Daughter lived in Tilton as a freshman and loved it because it was very social. Its a bit run down but she really was never bothered by that. This year, she’s at Carmichael which is definitely nicer and not as social.

My daughter lived in Hill freshman year and it is extremely nice- very spacious rooms, nice views and super clean. She is now a senior and still lives on campus in a single, but has never had a room as big as freshman year in Hill!

Are students randomly assigned to dorms, or do they get to indicate their preference? Does sending the deposit in earlier ensure a “better” dorm?

You can specify a preference. I don’t remember if priority is given based on timing of response.
