When I stayed for 10 days at Georgetown for a summer program, we got these dorms, 2 person, bed, desk, and closet provided, with a bathroom for every room...how are the rest of the dorms set up at georgetown? really bad? really nice?

So, you're in Village C? Those are probably the worst freshmen dorms. They're not bad but they require a lot of cleaning and attention if you don't want to live in disgust. You get your own bathroom, anyways. The dorms are very different all over campus. Only Village C has a private bathroom inside the room.

are the other dorms nicer or something? like, don't care about the bathrooms, but are all the other dorms just nicer looking or something? i know i should worry about getting in first, but i can't help it...

Village C has a very prison-y feel to it. You can definitely warm it up with a nice rug and some cool decorations, but most kids won't get around to that. Also, because of the bathrooms, most Village C rooms run small (my good friend was lucky enough to get one of the larger corner rooms). Darnall has pretty small rooms, as well. However, they are cosy, have carpeting, and there is a lot of shelf/closet space. Harbin has THE biggest rooms. If the beds are bunked, the rooms are very good for hanging out/socializing. Also lots of desk space and closet space. Have a nice, large window shelf. Can add blankets and pillows to use as a reading spot. Most kids use it for their TVs and fridges (perfect size for these things!). I can't speak for New South because I haven't been inside any of the rooms yet. The entire building is newly renovated and has a nice entry. The rooms also have sinks. So, all in all, the freshmen dorms are not bad. The occupants can always find ways to make seemingly crappy rooms really nice.

well then, i guess i'm gonna first pray that i get in, and then secondly pray that i get into any of the last three dorms...oh, and btw, howd you know it was village c...i really didnt explain the room too well or anything

oh the bathroom, sorry i was  confused

Lol - yeah, the bathroom in the room pretty much gives it away. :)

hoya, in which dorms can the beds be lofted and/or bunked?

Also, did you get your first choice dorm? Which dorm are you in?

Finally (for now haha), I always read your posts and you are so helpful and generous to share so much information and support. Thank you for that. Will you be involved with the open house in Feb? Would love to meet you and thank you in person.

I think the beds can be bunked in all freshmen dorms. Again, not sure about New South but those rooms should have the same beds... I actually wanted Village C (for the bathroom) until I was in school for a few months and realized they weren't that great of rooms. Actually, Darnall was my last choice because it's far away from the center of campus and the other freshmen dorms. However, I've grown to like it (Darnall, that is).

Thanks for the compliment. I had a lot of help from students from these boards before I was a Georgetown student, so it's nice to give back. I'm not going to be directly involved with open house but anybody can stop by my dorm or schedule something beforehand. Shouldn't be a problem...

I've already decided that my first choice is Harbin.

However I'd like to know how New South is...
