Dorms?

Wait I'm confused...is it only because they are freshman dormsn that they are substance free? Or thats just the way they are for everyone???

Bally, please see the list a couple posts ago regarding which floors/buildings are sub-free. the majority of housing on campus is not sub-free. after freshman year there are only two sub-free options, one of which is an entire building and another of which is just one floor.

this may sound really stupid, but what exactly does "sub-free" entail? i mean isn't it illegal to have alcohol as a freshman and drugs anyway?

yeah, well, technicall alcohol isn't allowed for people under 21 and there shouldn't be weed in dorms. but you'll come to realize that private uni's frequently provide a bit of a bubble for their students where the rules are a little more lax. RA's don't discipline students for drinking in non-sub-free housing. In sub-free housing, you're allowed to drink outside of the dorm but cannot come back and disrupt the floor. You can't possess alcohol on the floor, that's an automatic violation of the sub-free contract and you're kicked out of the dorm.
You'll smell weed a lot more in non-sub-free dorms. Smoke in a sub-free dorm and you're kicked out of the dorm. But really, if you're caught smoking up in ANY building, chances are that you're going to get in some sorta fix.
In sub-free buildings, you're also not allowed to keep tobacco products on the floor.

Please note...all those who enjoy various substances..the Washington University Police Department isn't just a security thing....its a REAL police dept. If they arrest you...you will spend some time in a REAL jail....so the bubble ain't all that big. Just a thought.
