Dorms!

This is addressed to the people who have attended Georgetown.

I have a few quick questions about Georgetown... which is about the dorms! Not much is disclosed about it during the campus tour and I was hoping someone could answer....

Is there wifi in the dorms? Can I even access the internet in the dorms and do I have to pay for it?

Can I have a microwave or a crock pot in the room?

These are all the questions I can think of so far...

Out of the freshman dorms, only New South has partial Wi-Fi (or mostly Wi-Fi, I know some computers couldn't access the Wi-Fi network). There is a fibro-optic link to the Internet, which you can get a media adapter for and plug in your regular Ethernet cable for your LAN card. Internet access is included in the fees that you pay to Georgetown.

I believe that microwaves/crockpots are generally taboo in freshman residence halls, as they pose a fire hazard of some kind (someone who works in the Office of Residence Life will have more info). AFAIK, the official line that it's not allowed, but I can see where you can get away with a crockpot. Besides, each floor should have a microwave in the kitchen...

For Village C, I can say that a lot of floors informally have wi-fi from other buildings. Apparently they're adding it to each floor by the end of this year (which really screws ME over but the word is that whoever is here next year will indeed have wi-fi).
