Dorms

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me which dorms are the nicer ones. I'm a transfer student. The one im going to choose btwn are greenwich hotel, Lafayette, and 2nd street. Thanks.

the 2nd street dorm i’ve been to was extremely small.

lafayette is spacious and is in Chinatown (good, cheap food!!).

greenwich hotel is in a nice area… West Village. and i heard that there’s maid service there. BUT it’s really far from all other dorms. i’ve never seen the rooms though.

Second Street indeed has very small rooms. It is cheaper than other dorms as a result, but I honestly don’t think it’s worth it to have to have a bunk bed. It’s located a few avenue blocks east of the campus, and the walk is do-able. It’s also on the edge of where all the East Village trendiness starts. As a result, it can get VERY loud.

Lafayette has very large rooms, and many rooms are suites. It’s located near Chinatown and Canal Street, which can be extremely insane during the day. The walk is a lengthy one, but you can catch an NYU bus.

Greenwich Hotel is indeed in the West Village, but it’s in a rather dead area, closer to the Piers than the trendy hotspots. The rooms are a decent size though not as large as Lafayette’s. It is also located farther away, but an NYU bus goes right by there.

Honestly, if I were you, I would choose Greenwich Hotel for the relative quiet alone. If you don’t mind having to potentially wade through throngs of tourists, though, definitely choose Lafayette.

Thanks for the advice. i think i’m going to Lafayette cause I want the big spacious room and I dont mind the touristy area.
