Double and triple legacy for UPenn

Penn has been very good to alumni. Does greater alumni status help in odds of acceptance? Both parents and aunts uncles having gone?

It does if and only if you apply ED. They don’t give legacies applying RD any bump.

Is there more of a bump for triple legacy? Assuming ED.

No

Penn states which relatives count for legacy. Check their website.

For most colleges, they only really take into account father/mother or grandfather/ grandmother with siblings getting minor considerations. As far as I know, uncles / aunts don’t count. If you have double legacy, it helps and if you have more legacy going back via direct descent it helps (3rd generation.) I think it’s conceivable that these kind of legacies could help even in the RD round, but they heavily stress that it will improve your chances more ED.

I wonder what kind of “bump” legacies get. From the ED acceptance threads it seems like legacies with lower stats might get a bump in test scores or gpa but if the legacy already has a 2300+/4.0 I’m not sure there is a “bump”. DD is a current penn student. Her dad is an alumni and alumni interviewer. She applied RD and was accepted. DS applied ED this year with the same high stats as DD and was deferred. He was accepted RD but now he has other great choices and his choice might not be penn. Even though the penn website says to apply ED if you have legacy, that didn’t seem to help our family in any way. I think if penn wants you, they want you. If they don’t, they don’t.
