Double Auditioning!! Has it been done? (i.e. two different areas)

So, I am very calm at this state, and I actually came across an interesting idea my friend was passing along my way. She suggested if I absolutely CANNOT decide between two areas (i.e. in my case, jazz voice and musical theater,) maybe I can just audition at some schools with jazz, and audition at some schools with MT. Depending on where I get in, money I get, you know the whole shabang, I pick where I want to go (and on which major fits me the best, blah blah.) Haha

Just wondering, does this sound like a good idea, so that it keeps all of my options open? I was thinking, say, 3 schools for each (3 jazz 3 MT?)

Why not? Some kids audition for both musical theater and acting programs at different schools. Why not MT and jazz voice?

Jeremy,
You will be auditioning as a transfer, correct? I noticed on another thread that Tulane just hasn't been a good fit?

WMonMTDad,

Yes, I will be auditioning as a transfer! I'mnot panicky like I have been though hahahaha. Yes, Tulane is NOOT a good fit by any standards (i.e. most majors are business, architecture, and poli sci...yes lol.)

If you're feeling extra daring, you can audition for the 2 different programs at the same schools so you'll have 6 jazz auditions and 6 MT auditions at 6 different schools

I'm going to encourage my younger D (a junior this year) to audition next year in MT and vocal performance both at everyplace that offers both. Absolutely.

Jeremy, I apologize for not knowing which schools interest you, but I just wanted to suggest that it would be a good idea, if you haven't already done so, to check with those schools and see if this is possible. I know that it won't be possible at all schools (at NYU, even though they offer both vocal performance and MT, you would not be able to audition for both) but perhaps at the schools on your list, you will be able to do so. :)
