Hi guys,
I’m sophomore. I major in Math and concentrate in Applied Math. I’m thinking of minor in Statistics but just find out that my major also has concentration in Statistics and I can do double concentrations. I don’t know which one is better. Does anyone have any suggestions or advices for me? Thank you in advance
Do you want an opinion on whether these concentrations matter at all? Or in what way should any of these be better than the other? Are you planning on going to grad school? If so, what program do you have in mind?
Some graduate programs even offer PhDs in Statistics, so if that’s one of your goals or things you have in mind, an exposure to the subject / a few courses will only help you, that is, if you have a minor, although after looking through some of UCLA’s advice on [their graduate program](http://statistics.ucla.edu/graduate-program/applicants), it looks like as if “[…] applicants should have taken at least 12 quarter courses (or eight semester courses) in substantial upper division quantitative work, including, but not limited to, courses in statistics, mathematics, computer science, and electrical engineering.”, which basically means that you “really” don’t need to necessarily minor in it, but take a variety of courses in math, stats, CS, etc.
