Double Counting

Do classes that satisfy skill AND distribution requirements count for both? For example, Great books is a humanities AND first year writing class, while classical civilization is only first year writing. If great books counts for both, I would prefer great books; if not, then classic civ. Anyone know?

Yes, they count as both. Great Books completes the FYW requirement and counts for humanities distribution credits. This goes for any other class that fulfills multiple requirements (Calc classes fulfilling QR/1 AND MSA distribution, etc.).

Let’s say you are 8 credits away from graduation and you still need to fulfill that R&E and HU requirements.

you could either

  1. Take a 4credit class only for R&E. Then another 4credit class only HU.
    OR alternatively
  2. Take a 4 credit class that takes care of R&E and HU together. Then take any class you want to fill the other 4 credits.
