Okay so I'm not completely sure what I want to do after college. And if I do well on my APs this year I could potential have 30 credits or so before freshman year starts. So I have a little bit of room to do more. I kinda want to go to law school and do something in politics or law depending on my LSAT score. So I was thinking should I major in Government and/or economics. However, I also want to major in computer science just in case I want to be a software engineer or an IP attorney. So I was wondering what path I should take. These are the options I have so far:

Double degree - Computer Science & Government

Double degree - Government & Economics

Double major - Computer Science & Government

Double degree/double major - Computer Science as one degree and Government & Economics as another degree with two majors under it (I don't know if it's possible)

One degree - Computer Science

One degree - Government(possibly minor in CS)

Note that the only minor UMD offers out of these three degree programs is computer science.

Please help me advice or suggestions.

A computer science degree is by far the most employable out of the 3. Majoring in government/economics will not give you any advantages in applying to law.

Don’t do a double degree if slows your graduation rate or hurt your GPA (the only thing besides LSAT that matters for law school).

Computer science + economics is surprisingly not that rare combination here, and I would highly recommend it if you’re indeed interested in both subjects a lot.

My main interest are computer science and government. Is it hard to take upper level gove courses without being a government major?

yes it is somewhat difficult to take upper level classes in anything without being a major because of the prereqs. If you only want to do one of the subjects you need a supporting sequence and to do upper levels in a subject and the other thing your interested in can always be that.
I would recommend double majoring since you enjoy both things so much. i came to umd with about 20credits and am double majoring and graduating early…thats always an option too rather than just waiting and doing a degree.
That or you could double major and in a third area like economics if you prefer to stay in all 4years

I am having a similar issue but I am choosing between Econ major cs minor or do too more semesters (possibly three) and get Double degree in both.
