I recently read in a book that Georgetown doesn't like it when applicants apply to other schools EA at the same time they are applying EA to G-town, and that it could hurt your chances if they find out you are doing this. The book was old...so I'm wondering if this is still true. Does anyone know?

Goegretown's only restriction on EA is that you not apply ED anywhere else. Other EA programs are fine. Stanford and Yale are the big schoolls that are SCEA (single-choice early action)

Yep. That's still true when I applied, which was 2 years ago.

yeah I also know couple of applicants apply for Georgetown EA and U chicago EA at the same time.

I applied to BC and Georgetown EA last year, and I got into both. Even if they don't like it, there are no official restriction, and how can they honestly know?

Admissions talk to each other, compare notes (though I think legally they are not allowed to), but they hang in the same circles, go golfing together... you get the picture... esp with the top applicants (think scholarship candidates etc)

"Boston College does not permit students to apply under our Early Action program if they are applying to a binding Early Decision program at another college. Students are free to apply to other Early Action and Regular Decision programs."

I don't think they care...at all...that is straight from the BC website
Im sure that Georgetown has the same policy. EA isn't like ED...and the admissions officers know that. I think they probably know that all the kids applying EA might have another school as there #1 but couldn't apply early because of financial aid or somethinhg

I applied to seven schools EA last year, Georgetown included, and got into all (admittedly, I told my interviewer Georgetown was my first choice) but I don't think they discriminate - if they were that concerned about you applying to several schools early they'd go SCEA

you are absolutely allowed to. you can apply to any EA schools, as long as they're not ED or SCEA... so that means BC, Georgetown, UChicago, even early response to Michigan.

i applied to georgetown sfs and uchicago ea and got into both, so i dont think they really care too much.

but you cant ed and ea georgetown.
