Double in EE/CS confusion

Since both EE and CS are engineering disciplines, I would only receive one degree that says "Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science".

Now a lot of schools, such as CMU, Berkeley, and MIT, offer a major called EECS. If employers see EECS, will they automatically assume it is one major or a double major?

The reason I ask is because double major is significantly harder than major and minor. Doubling would also require me to take additional courses I'm not interested in. So is that additional effort worth putting to receive a double major that may be seen as a single major?

If a double major has you taking any classes you’re not interested in at all, then you shouldn’t double major. That being said, perhaps you’re being too picky… how do you know you won’t like the other classes until you’ve had them? I double majored in Physics for the Classical Mechanics class, but I have enjoyed all the others.
