Double Major Admissions/Audition Tips/Male Applicants

I know that Michigan flat out states that it IS possible to pursue a double major with a BFA in MT. I was wondering though, how does one go about applying to another department for a double major. Do you have to apply separately? And, then if you are not accepted to the other school (Besides MT) can you apply to another department? How does it all work? Also, with that double major, can you graduate in 4 years? (I think it mostly depends on the major) And my next question, I know that to be able to audition, one must have been pre-screened academically, but that doesn’t mean that they are automatically IN based on academics, and then there audition is what determines it, right? Also, if one is allowed to audition, does that mean if they just applied to the school (without an MT major) they would most likely be accepted?

I am VERY interested in attending UMICH and I would really appreciate any help with these questions, and any other advice on auditioning. Also, I know it is still very difficult, but I have heard that you may have a leg up on auditioning at UMICH if you are a guy, cause fewer audition. Is this true? Thanks so much!

oops, I mean “THEIR AUDITION” I can’t stand bad grammar!

EJmusicman…my son is a double major student at UMich in MT and Engineering. Please feel free to PM me and I will be happy to connect you with him for specific questions about the process.
