I was wondering, does anyone know if it is possible to do a double major at NYU? Can one choose to get a BFA in MT and get a BA from another department/school (i.e. Communications, Business, Journalism)? Also, is it possible to do this at any other “top tier” type school (i.e. CCM, CMU)? I know that it is possible at UMICH and Baldwin Wallace, but I am not too sure about other places (i.e. Elon, OCU, IU, Syracuse). If anyone had any knowledge on this, I would REALLY appreciate it! Thanks so much!!

Regarding the program at Tisch, yes you can double major as long as the major is in the NYU College of Arts and Science and not any other NYU school (like the Stern School of Business for example). You can also double major within Tisch as a Dramatic Writing Major (Very difficult from what I’ve heard).
But if you do choose to double major, it is difficult due to scheduling the academic classes around studio. For example, after your freshman year you have studio Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and if you want to double major in Art History and Intro to Art History is only on Mondays and Wednesdays, well… that probably won’t work out.
Also, if you want to have professional training/studio your fourth year that is taken out of your 20 Credit Electives, and if you wanted to double major you would have to use many elective credits as well as most double majors require 10 classes in that major. So if you want to double major you might not be able to do studio your senior year.
