hi, so on the common app, it clearly states that the intended major you select is non negotiable in that it cannot be changed whatsoever. does this mean that you cannot ever change your major for the 4 years you study there? like even if a student decides they don’t want to major in ____ anymore after taking a couple courses?
also, is it possible to double major?
I’m having a hard time understanding what the schedule/class environment is like at Emerson. I thought I really loved it, because of its whole liberal arts + artsy vibe, but I feel like it’s very strict on what classes students can take and very inflexible?
is this true?
thanks in advance!
Our D is currently a second semester freshman at Emerson majoring in Business of Creative Enterprises. No idea about changing majors, as she loves her major and has no desire to change. I can say that in developing her plan and scheduling classes she has not found things to be inflexible at all. She is minoring in Journalism, will be studying at Kasteel Well next spring, and is planning to apply for the E3 entrepreneurship program…and her academic advisor has been very helpful in planning things out, with no issues registering for the classes she wants to take.
Hi @brookemitchell We went to accepted students day I thought I heard them say that it is easy to change majors with the acception of bfa theater and comedy since those are very competitive audition programs. I really don’t think it is an issue there, but why don’t you call and ask. My son is in the film production major in media arts and they said he can do any classes he wants in media arts, he doesn’t have to only take film production courses. We were very impressed with the program, the faculty and the administration that we saw. Would you be a freshman in the fall? What major did you sign up for?
whoops, just noticed you wrote that in November! lol
