I am interested in double majoring in Commerce and computer science. I realize that this would mean a major in the Comm school and in the E school, and that each of those schools have a substantial number of required classes.

Fortunately, I have plenty of AP credits that might help make this doable. My AP scores are as follows:

Comparative Government: 5
United States Government: 5
United States History: 5
European History: 5
World History: 5
English Literature: 5
English Language: 5
Statistics: 5
Calculus AB (subscore): 5
Calculus BC: 4

So, based on this information, do you think that this type of double major is plausible?

There’s no way it’s possible without AP Computer Science credit (or even if you had it). The required CS courses (in the college - which is how you would major) are CS150, CS201, CS202, CS216. Those classes are taken over 3 semesters and not earlier. So you would not even start more advanced CS classes until your 4th semester at earliest. HOWEVER in Comm you are restricted to just 1 elective class per semester starting your 5th semester, so you would not have enough elective classes to complete a CS major. You might be able to do a minor in CS.

You could do a CS and econ double major through the College, and you might be able to add some other business-relevant courses as electives, without going the Comm school route.

Comm School doesn’t set an absolute restriction on your elective classes, so you could technically do it, but take it from someone who almost took that route – it’s very difficult.
