Double Major in Accounting/Finance?

I've been studying up on majoring in either Accounting or Finance over the net for the past week, and so far I've come to this state of mind: If I want to be an accountant, a single major in Accounting will suffice (With CPA future), but if I want a future in Finance an accounting degree will help me greatly. I am alright with Accounting, but I feel like I'm more inclined to finance. Which do you think has the better value in terms of salary, job security, etc.?

Salary- finance.
Job security- accounting.

I always hear that finance has a better salary and accounting has a better job security. Does that mean its hard to obtain a job with a finance degree?

what about management major in terms of job security? I want to do consulting.

The finance industry has more volatility than accounting. It is harder to find your initial finance job than an accounting job. That doesn’t mean you should shrink from it, just be aware of it.

And I’d recommend against a management major. You’re not prepared to manage anyone or important projects with just an undergrad degree. MBA + experience shows management ability, undergrad rubber stamp that you’re a “manager” does not.

I am not planning on use management degree to be a manager but get into the consulting industry.

If I want to do consulting, what should be my major (s)?

^Doesn’t matter, what school you go to and your grades are more important than what your major is for consulting.
