Do you guys know if a double major in Biological Sciences and Economics would be suicidal? I'm premed, but I'm also interested in Economics and I can't seem to give it up after 2 years of Econ in high school (both AP and IB). Is it manageable?

i'm curious about this as well. will you need a good amount of AP credit to pull this off?

Economics is not a very rigorous major. It only consists of about 8 courses beyond the 300 level, and it only consists of 8 extra courses if you have AP credit for Calc AB, and introductory Micro and Macro. That's about an extra course per semester. So, in my opinion, it would be doable.

Not suicidal at all. Very good idea. Do it. Double majoring seems "intense"....false...everyone should do it, if not triple major. If you plan ahead, it's quite easy. (as long as you're not some crazy triple engineering major!! that might be hard...)

I know so many economics/biological sciences double majors. It is a surprisingly popular combination. As Brown said, the economics major is not very rigorous and there are only 4 required 300 lvl classes (314,313,319,320) and 4 300lvl+ electives.

what about biological sciences/math double major?

^^ Good luck with that lol. Are you premed? If so then you are mad, because your GPA might take a beating. In my opinion, pure Math is one of the hardest majors at Cornell with lots of proofs and abstract material. It takes a certain type of person to do well in a math major, but if you think you have the kind of mind necessary to do it then by all means, go ahead.

^ thanks for the input... that's kind of what i was thinking

i was also considering a bio/psych double major... after looking at the psych major requirements, it seems that this double major would not be too difficult. is it as easy as it seems or am i mistaken?

Based on my conversations w/ psychology majors, Psych isn't too bad. But Psych209 - Perception is a REALLY TOUGH CLASS. Just wanted to give you a heads up on it.

^ thanks!!!

perception is actually psych205
don't take it....unless of course you like to torture yourself
worst experience of my life

What if you plan to double major in Biological Sciences/Economics but you don't have the AP credit from either AP Macro or Micro? Would it still be doable?

Re: previous post
Yes, it's very doable. Even without AP credit, you're looking at just two extra classes (which many people with AP credit choose to retake anyway).
