Guys, I want to double major Econ + (history or philosophy or humanities)

1.
First of all, is it systemically possible for CC student prepare for double major at CC and

finish at 4-year college?

2.
Since I can only transfer 70 units from CC, and the 2 majors listed above are not really

relvent each other, would it take 1 more extra year for me to graduate?

I don't know if assist.org gives information about double major.. couldn't find it.

P.S (skip it :D)
I actually wanted to double major in humanities as a bookwarm, but I am an international

student that have less job chances in USA especially with non-practical degrees and my

home country also hates humanity kind of students, she likes more practical degrees.

Anyway, it is good I was quite much interested in Econ at least, one of the most popular

major in ma country, haha.

I am going to double major when I transfer to UCSD in econ and political science. At my CC I finished all of my prereqs for both the econ and poli sci major at UCSD (both found on assist). I received my AA for both majors. I was accepted to UCSD as an econ major but I could have applied as a poli sci major. After I finish my first quarter I will petition to add the poli sci major, making me a double major. I am transferring with 67 units from my CC to UCSD and that included everything to be IGETC certified and having all the of prereqs done.

It will take me 3 years at UCSD to finish both majors since I do need so many classes. You should be able to find information about double majoring on whatever UC you are trying to transfer to.

Hopefully this helps.

Really Tnx for your advice!

so, I can’t apply as a double-major student?

Is the step like this?

1 Finish prerequs for both econ and one chosen humanity and get AA for both.

But apply as either econ or humanites student, not double major.

And petition that I want to double major.

If accepted, Study one more year to get both degree

Done!

more like…

Finish Prereqs for both major (you dont really need to get your AA if you dont want to, this isn’t a requirement to transfer)

Apply as either major

Get accepted

Start attending

Petition to double major

Study one more year to finish all upper div requirement for both majors

But this is how it is for UCSD, make sure you check the individual websites for whatever college you are wishing to attend.

Econ. doesn’t look like a particularly unit-heavy major http://economics.ucsd.edu/ugrad/ugradPDFs/econmajor_2yrplan_postF09.pdf. I think you can double major in econ and a humanities major without staying an extra year in university but that depends on how many prerequisites you’ve done, a bit of luck, and how big of a workload you can handle.
