Double major in computer science and biochemistry?

Hi! I'm an upcoming senior and I'm planning on applying to UGA, Stanford, MIT, CMU, Yale, and UCLA. I want to double major in computer science and biochemistry, minor in mathematics, and attend medical school afterwards. I want to become a radiologist. Is this a good plan?

That sounds very intense. The easiest double majors to do are those that have a lot of overlap in requirements. There isn’t a lot of overlap between biochem/CS. If you come in with some credit from AP/IB, though, that would make it more reasonable. However, an important question to ask yourself is: why do you want to do these 2 majors and minor? The double major won’t help for med school, and it might end up hurting your GPA (which is very important for med school admissions) because of the course load, or make it harder to fit in clinical experience. That’s not to say it isn’t possible, but it seems very common for high school students to want to study EVERYTHING they like in college. You end up having to focus and specialize. There’s nothing wrong with going in with a plan like this, but be open to dropping 1 or more of these 3 parts depending on how things go or how your interests change.

Also, none of this matters when it comes to becoming a radiologist. That sort of specialization doesn’t happen until the end of medical school, so your undergrad major really doesn’t have any impact.
