Basically, I'll have leftover scholarship money (due to APs) and it's use it or lose it. I want to be a software engineer or something related to comp sci and programming. Would it be more beneficial for my career to double major in CS and Applied Math or to get my BS and MS in CS?

The double major will take me an extra 30 credits and the BS/MS will take an extra 18 credits.

I would go with the option that you enjoy more. Applied math can be extremely useful - but only if you want a quantitative career.

If you did the MS, would you learn something substantially new or is it a generic MS with more of the same material that you have already seen as an undergraduate (i.e. grad level compilers, algorithms, programming languages, computer architecture, etc)? A specialized MS (e.g. in game design or network security) can open doors for you, but more foundational work won’t help you on the job market.

Generally I’d suggest going for the MS since the starting pay scale and eligibility for future promotions in the workforce will likely be higher that way.
