I'm a freshman in SCS. I'd like to learn the requirements to double major in ECE- the courses, credits,etc.. Could anybody tell me where I can reach this information. Thanks...

The course catalog has all requirements: http://www.cmu.edu/esg-cat/

There is a difference between double majoring and getting a dual degree- you might want to look into the details. The dual degree allows less double counting of courses.

As an ECE major with some friends who are planning on doubling in CS, I will tell you that it's quite hard to double in ECE and CS. There are specific rules that restrict double counting of classes, and both are hard majors. You should talk to your adviser for more details.

Also, note that there are various subtleties that come into play if you want to pick up an ECE degree from the College of CS, verses picking up a CS degree while in the College of Engineering. No, I don't know the details.

Many thanks for the replies. I've seen the catalogue. The CS department clearly states what is needed for a double major in CS. However, no information on double majoring is given in the ECE part of the catalogue for a student whose primary major is not ECE. Does this mean that I need to meet all the course requirements for an ECE degree in order to double major? I intend to minor in robotics and I think some additional computer hardware courses would be of great help- that's why I wish to double major in ECE. What would you recommend?

Thanks again..
