double major in econ/accounting?

my ultimate goal is to become a portfolio manager at a mutual fund ( PIMCO, fidelity, TCW etc)
i am currently majoring in accounting but am set to graduate a semester early. should i just graduate early and then get my masters in accounting? or should i double in econ?

the reason i want to double major in econ/accounting is because i find economics very interesting, also i am still uncertain if i want to graduate early, so if i double i can graduate in spring of 2012. It is a toss up right now between doubling in accounting/finance or accounting/econ
thus i wanted to come to the boards and get some advice on which would be the best doublemajor. the reason i thought of econ as a double major was because it is unique since most choose accounting/finance, and i find it very useful but overall i am still very uncertain to do so.

???anyone?

Don’t double major. Major in accounting and minor in econ. You’ll [probably] save time and money.

yea that’s what i want to do but unfortunately i can not have a minor in a “business associated content” since i am in the business school. the counselor said i can only double major. its probably the schools method of making more money due to fiscal problems. also they’re raising tuition as well.

I would definitely double major in those two disciplines. You get the job prospects of an accountant and the versatility of an economics degree. You can choose which major to sell to employers based on what they’re looking for. I think it opens up an incredible array of opportunities. Definitely do it as long as you can handle it.
