Hey, I would like to compliment my econ B.A with either a psychology B.A or two minors one in technology management (basically management minor) and another in information systems. I want to work in tech or accounting related field but my school doesn’t have an accounting major. I am also very interested in psychology and have enough room for it to graduate om time. I do not want to minor or major in math or stats. I want to get my MBA after a few years of working if that helps. I want to know what kind of jobs can a combo of econ and psychology get? And is the manor combo better or econ major and two minors better?
Major*
If you want to work in tech why not have a double major with econ and cis?
There are lots of different ways to work in technology without necessarily majoring in CS/CIS. Technology companies have hundreds of non-technical jobs, as well as technical jobs that require training in a different technical field besides computer science. I am always an advocate for taking classes in computer science and understanding it, but a CIS major is just going to depend on what you want to do.
There’s an entire field of economics called behavioral economics, which is using the principles of psychology and economics together to understand how and why people make economic decisions. This is useful in marketing (which technology companies hire by the dozens) but also in decision sciences and potentially user research. There are other non-technology applications of behavioral economics, too - think tanks, NGOs, government agencies, and other private companies hire economists to understand people’s purchasing decisions and economic behavior.
I don’t understand what the trend is about having a double minor. One major and one minor to me seems enough, so I think if you go that route you should probably select either technology management or information systems. I think information systems would probably be more useful.
