Hi,

I am currently considring my transfer options and would like to know if two major from different departments are optional?

Econ is under Letters and Science and Comp Sci is under Engneering.
Is it possible to double major in both?
Other options or suggestions?

Thank you!

It’s possible, if you want to be here for like 4 or 5 years after you transfer. And if you can give your counselor a legitimate reason why you should be allowed to stay for that long.

So basically no. Engineering majors are already long enough on their own.

The person above me isn’t familiar with the engineering school. The engineering school will not allow you to double major. Also if you have CS degree that econ is going to look pale in comparison. It’s really not worth your effort.

It is possible, but you will be here a while and it will not be easy, especially as a transfer. CS is a tough major and econ is no walk in the park either (maybe it is compared to CS lol). However if you really want to double in econ, that’s probably one of the better ones as far as units go because econ doesn’t have that many upper div requirements (there are 12, in addition to lower div pre-reqs). As a transfer, you’ll be here AT LEAST three years but that’s mainly because of all the CS major requirements (I wanna say there are ~20 required upper divs for CS, on top of any pre-reqs you haven’t fulfilled, like higher levels of math/chem/physics/CS classes).
