I have been debating on majoring in International Business or International Studies for a while now, but lately I have thought about the possibility of focusing on a certain business area and getting my international portion from a different major. I have thought about Marketing and International Studies with a minor in German. Are these two a good combination, and would the double major be manageable? I really enjoy both subjects. Thanks for any advice you have!
Anybody have advice? Would multinational companies look at someone with a bachelor’s in marketing and international studies or would I be wasting my time?
It’s a little weird since International business, as a curriculum, is based on the management major. International business and international studies as opposed to traditional majors, psychology, pre-med, finance, etc. aren’t focused toward a specific career path. For that reason I think it would be helpful for you to pick up marketing or whatever field it is that you want to work in. Your International Studies major would basically act as a signal to you wanting to work abroad or within an international function within a marketing department.
Whether or not double majoring is manageable depends on your work ethic, schedule, etc, but obviously many students double major.
So would you recommend double majoring in Intl. Business and Marketing? This way I could knock a lot of the classes out for both majors with one stone, both would be in the business department, and I still could learn another language and possibly throw in an Intl. Studies minor.
