I'm interested in Film/TV advertising. I don't know what this would fall under (Promotion? Distribution? Or like collaborating with filmmakers to produce movie trailers). Would a film studies major be of any value coupled with a marking major? It would probably be more useful to do a film production major; however, you usually need a portfolio to apply to such a degree program. I am more interested in film production than film theory, but I simply don't have a portfolio of any film work. What should I do?

I love advertising and also want to go into that as a career! It would fall under either PR/advertisement [which is usually under communication] or marketing [which is in the business school] and also what I decided to do. Currently, I go to Cleveland State University and joined the AMA [American Marketing Association] which is an awesome networking opportunity to help my career. I would advice going the film route because you seem more passionate about it, although with advertising it usually doesn't fall under film. One of my friends was a film major here at CSU and is now working for the Cleveland Film Fest! She had a great experience working in the city and working on her film shoots as an undergrad. Hope this helped, good luck :)

Here is a quote from a new graduate,"The BCA program is one of the best programs for people looking to work on the business side of the entertainment industry."

The program is a joint program with the Marshall School and the incredible School of Cinematic Arts. Core classes are in the business school. Other topics are addressed such as: entertainment marketing, agenting, TV station management and an internship. The School of Cinematic Arts provides 24 units.

USC is located in the center of a huge entertainment industry. It also offers many study abroad programs.
