Double major (+ minor) ??

(junior in HS, hoping to one day be a gator)

How hard is it to double major/minor at UF? If I were to attend UF I would LOVE to double major in bio and english, with a minor in women's studies. They are my three "passions" and I'd hate to give one of them up, but I fear that I would be so busy with school that I would have no time for extracurriculars, which would really suck...

If I plan my semesters well and enter with a decent amount of AP credits**, could I:
- maintain a good GPA?
- participate in EC's? research, volunteering, clubs?
- get more than 3 hours of sleep every night? :P
- do this in 4 years? I'd prob have to take on a bit more than the traditional 8 semesters but I want to be done with undergrad by 2020 (I'm HS class of 2016)

**according to UF's website they accept a maximum 45 AP credits, and I'm planning to have passed 11-12 AP exams by the time I graduate, which I think should get me a pretty good amount if not the full 45. How much would this help?

It’s very doable, but can seem a bit complicated. See the following link:

Bio and English majors are both in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS). If Bio is a BS degree and English a BA, then you would be completing a “Dual Degree” which is different from a double major (or “second major”). You would receive two degrees.

At this point, I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Think about your primary major, and if you get accepted, after a year or so you can work out your plan for a dual degree, etc.

Good Luck!
