Hi, i'm accepted to Michigan Engineering 2014. I did not apply for Pre-Admit to Ross. I was wondering whether, if i chose to attend Michigan, I could double major in Engineering and Business or maybe just minor in Business. Also, i'm an international student if that changes anything.
Thanks, I was accepted to Carnegie Mellon CIT Engineering as well and currently in the midst of deciding between the two.

i know very few people who are double majoring in business and computer engineering or mechanical. it’s a very tough work load and a lot find that it isn’t worth it. but if you think you can pull it off, then go for it.

also, ross does not offer minors.

That would be absolutely insane to complete, but would lead to amazing job opportunities similar to that of UPenn’s M&T program.

You could do a double major in engineering and business, but it would take 5 years. I think majoring in engineering and getting an MBA later would be more effective.

That. That’s pretty much what I’ve heard from everyone.

Quick question, kind of off topic but at the same time relevant. Doesn’t EGL give you almost the exact same opportunities as completing a BBA and an engineering degree? Or does EGL give you similar opportunities but not exactly the same?

I don’t think EGL gives you access to the Ross recruiting.

"I don’t think EGL gives you access to the Ross recruiting. "
I get access to impact

Really? Hm… Do you know the advantages of EGL QwertyKey? I figured EGL gave you access to some of Ross’s recruiting.

I know Ross’s has more employers than just those listed, but that list does list some big name consulting and banking firms. Surely EGL gives you access to the lower ones as well right?

Edit: What is impact?

“I get access to impact”

Really? From being part of EGL or something else?

Impact is the Ross recruiting website. Like HireMe for engineering.

You can’t minor in business. However, you can major in business and minor in other things (but the only minor close to engineering is computer science).

I recommend you major in engineering for undergrad, get a few years of experience in the industry, and then come back later for your MBA. It sounds like engineering is your priority.

Thanks for the replies guys. I’m just asking whether i would be allowed to take another major in Business even though i didn’t apply for pre-admit to Ross.

for those that do EGL, do you know if the capstone project thing you do at the end is mostly manufacturing related or can you choose something that is closely relevant to your interests? Because I’m not interested in manufacturing and the admissions person at EGL was really vague about it.

You can’t drop your resume though…

Marvin, you have to get into Ross to get a degree from them.

How do you get in to Ross? How hard is it (in terms of requirements and number of places available)?

Marvin, you can easily run a search on this subject. It is not easy to transfer into Ross.

Also keep in mind that eventhough a double major in Engineering and Business is possible, it is unecessarily difficult and not that practical.
