Hi, I was wondering.. if..
a Biz-Econ and an Applied Mathematics major and an Accounting minor would be too hard?

I'd really like to be an accountant in the future, but I was thinking of trying to get the Applied Mathematics major just as a back up?

Or is it better if it's a Biz-Econ and Mathematics minor and an Accounting minor?
Or a Math/Econ with an Accounting minor?

After UCLA, I was hoping to work in the Big 4. Is any of my options just simply outrageous and superbly difficult?

My suggestion is to look at the requirements for everything you want to do, plan out your 4 year schedule (generally at least) in a spreadsheet, and then determine if your goal is realistic. It will probably involve taking 4 classes a quarter and/or summer school, so I recommend if you’re a Freshman to test the waters first. Take 3 classes to start off, and then 4 Winter quarter. By then you should have some idea if your plans will be realistic.

Yeah, I did that. And for my double major option, I ended up with the option taking about 13 (almost 12, pending my AP Calc BC score) Pre-Requites classes for both majors, and about 18 Major Requites. Luckily, I found a lot of classes that overlapped with each other.
And to add with that, I have to complete at least 10 GE classes to get my credits.
So is my double major plausible?

An Applied Math and Biz Econ double major with an accounting minor is 41 classes (not including classes that are GE’s; and that doesn’t count AP credit for Calculus or intro econ). Plan things out, take some summer classes and that’s probably doable.

But Math/Econ with a minor in accounting is only 29 classes, so I’m not really sure it’s worthwhile. On the other hand, if you want to do accounting rather than Econ, I’m not sure you really even need much math.

As kwwboarder says, you should probably take 3 your first quarter, take 4 your 2nd quarter then go from there.

I say math/econ + accounting minor, I don’t see the point in doing it separately. No one is going to care.

Or just forget math/econ all together and do something like computer science + accounting minor.

I’m doing almost exactly what you’re doing, except I’m doing math/applied science in the actuarial plan. I find that some of the upper divs overlap and since I came into UCLA with 68 AP units and a lot of my prereqs done, I should be fine. I have to take about 4 classes each quarter though, and I’m taking summer classes for only this year.

If you plan on graduating on 4 years, concentrate on one major plus the accounting minor. If you have enough space in your schedule add the second minor or second major.

@ThisCouldBeHeavn: Isn’t it about 31 classes? Some classes overlap, and then including about 10 GE’s, it makes it about 41. So isn’t it doable without summer classes?

The reason I wanted Biz-Econ with the Accounting minor is because you can pretty much qualify for the Accounting minor with the requirements for Biz-Econ. So I was just wondering if I could just add in Biz-Econ and Accounting along with Applied Mathematics.
