I want to be a cpa, but I think that a double major in accounting and economics will allow me to have better analytical skills then someone that recieves a undergraduate degree and masters degree in accounting. What is the value of a masters degree in accounting? will this be less valuable then having a degree in economics and accounting? Will I be any less prepared for the CPA exam if I go for the economics/accounting double major? I am planning on eitheir getting an MBA and eventually opening my own cpa firm, or going to law school and specializing in tax law. Any comments?

Neither option will make much of a difference in either your preparedness for the exam or your ability to move up in your career. Are you talking about a double major or a dual degree? Are you able to complete this in four years? If so, then the double major/dual degree option would hands down be the better option (assuming you still meet your state's specific class requirements) as you will most likely receive the same salary without having to pay for an additional year of school.

I am a fan of fulfilling the exam requirements as an undergrad, working a few years and then getting an MBA, but that's my personal preference. Others have gone the MAcc/MST route and done well for themselves.
