I will be going to Alabama next year and I want to know if this will be useful for me. In the past I have always thought I'd be a Math or econ major, but I feel like doing that stuff for the rest of my life would get really boring. I want to do something I enjoy.

That being said, I think I can handle the workload of a double major. It is possible to have two majors and a minor, correct?

Thanks!

Having two majors is not generally helpful when looking for jobs. Doesn’t hurt, either (unless having to fulfill requirements for two different majors gets in the way of you taking specialized/advanced classes in the one you want to pursue a career in, though I don’t know what the situation is with political science or philosophy), but not terribly helpful–unless they’re in two wildly different areas and the combination would be an asset in the types of jobs you’re looking at.

Also keep in mind that you don’t have to major/minor in every thing you’re interested in; you can take philosophy courses you want without (double) majoring in it, and you don’t need a Spanish minor to be proficient in Spanish.
