Double major?

Can you double major at Princeton?

Yes, but I believe you have to complete two theses.

No, and you can't complete two theses. This was stated explicitly by their viewbooks and admission officers.

You can get a certificate/minor though.

Ah okay... I thought I remembered an admissions officer at a Princeton admissions talk saying that you can double major and write two theses but I probably misunderstood her.

you can write two thesis, but you cannot double major. Certain combinations of majors/certificates require you to write two thesis. For example, if you want to major in science and get a certificate in something like medieval studies, you would have to write two thesis. Same goes for engineering and chinese, or something like that. However, you cannot double major

A friend of mine is writing three: creative thesis #1 (a play), the substantive critical essay for his department, and creative thesis #2 (novella for creative writing). That said, he's not double majoring. As ec1234 said, it has to do with certificates more than majors. Some certificates require that you complete a substantive critical essay, some of which are as long as some departments' theses.
