Can anyone double major? I'm in Mccombs, but want to double major in something (architecture, journalism...something). I was on the Mccombs website, but i couldnt find anything on double majoring.

everyone can double major, especially as a b-school major.

It's actually somewhat to quite difficult to double major across schools at UT because each college has sooo many specific requirements. While it might be somewhat easy to double major in like accounting and finance (both in McCombs), it is more difficult to almost impossible to double major in architecture and journalism - that would take over 6 years I bet.

I'm double majoring in finance in psychology, but only because I have about a year and a half of credit can I do it in 4 years.

i think the example you gave is possibly the most extreme case. Perhaps the only majors that aren't recommended to double are architecture or nursing. Doubling in any of: Natural sciences, communications, liberal arts, business are all much easier. I do agree that one should have at least a bit of incoming credit if they think they can do it in 4 years. Also, depending on what you do, spending an extra year for a second degree is totally worth it (1 year isn't that much, especially if you're enjoying your college years like most).

It's not hard at all to double major, especially in different colleges. It takes some extra planning on your part but with summer semesters you can get a lot of credit out of the way (you can take about 18 hours per summer if you really want to, you can get some courses over with during winter semesters, etc) I think it's very possible to not even have to spend more than 4 years. I'm about to start my sophomore year with 46 hours of UT actual class credit, that's not counting my AP credits.

is it feasible to even do business and architecture (4year degree)? I only came in with 16 AP units. I could take 19 units every semester and summer school every summer. or business and engineering? To do any of these in four years and intern one summer?

Yeah, I think this is very possible, a friend of mine did engineering and business and is graduating on time.

If you take 18 hours every semester plus 18 hours for 2 summers (one between freshmen and soph, the other between soph and jr, which leaves room for an internship between jr and sr) you'll end up with about 180 credits, I think it should be enough.
