is a double major a stupid idea in terms of workload?

if you're CAS, i'm sure it's really not too difficult.

it depends on which school you do a double major in (wharton, college or engineering). in wharton, a double major requires only abt 3-4 extra courses.

in engineering, its alot more difficult and you need to take more courses since the engineering curriculum is rigid

i am not sure about double majoring at the college. sorry abt that.

a double major in engineering is like a dual degree... it's 10 very specific classes per major, most of which will never double count

10 very specific classes that will never double count is NOT like a dual degree. It is actually quite closely corresponding to a double major in the college - usually around 10 or so extra courses, but don't be surprised if it will be a lot more, especially if your majors have nothing to do with each other.

i'm sorry i meant purely in terms of overall course count. But is it really that bad in the college? Forgive me if I'm wrong, but the CAS cirriculum seems extremely open (a buttload of free credits, + lots of distribution credits you can use)

so if i double...about how many courses would i have to take per semester...six..seven???

also - does anyone know how to work out the whole schedule crap for course registration...do we actually have to schedule our class times by the 24th or whenever course registration ends?

or during that period do we merely contact our pre major advisor?

you actually pre-register (aka request the classes you want) by the 28th. after that, you're basically %*#$&d. ;-)

Make sure you preregister. If you don't, don't expect to get into any small/popular classes or be able to choose a specific section that you need.
