Double Major

I've been reading a lot about how a BFA is considered a double-major at some schools, but are there any schools where I could get a BFA in musical theater and a BS in for example political communication?

The reason for this is although I want to pursue a career in theater, I'm also realistic and I know that most actors do not make much money and have to have a "day job". Do you guys know any schools where I could have 2 majors in?

Thanks

I don't think this is really possible at any school. The BFA is more like a triple major and there is not enough time to throw in another. There are still opportunities for other jobs with the BFA bescides performing as many have pointed out. A minor is possible at some schools but challenging as I have heard.

You can do a double major at UMich- even in the BFA in Musical Theatre. I don't know how they do it, but I know some students pull it off.

At NYU, I would guess you would/could be awarded a single degree (BFA Drama) but with appropriate indications of a second major as well. A second major (from the College of Arts and Sciences) is possible at NYU. I suspect you would have to budget your course choices very carefully. A minor is easily do-able.

I think a double major (MT and Vocal Arts) is possible at OCU but the work is really intensive.

but how about a major in another department.

Each school will have a different policy. I would suggest checking out the schools in which you think you are interested. You may also want to consider a BA at an auditioned BA school.... most BA programs will allow you to double major... it may still be alot of credits... but possible more do-able.
