Double-Major

I'm thinking of Double-Majoring in Iranian Studies (maybe a more generic middle-eastern studies), but I'm not sure how it works to double-major.

Right now, I'm at 102 units, and my history major requires 4 units to finish the pre-major, and 10 upper-division courses (40 units). I'm also doing the honors program, which I could get done using classes I'm going to take anyways, so I would only need to take a 4 or 5 unit colloquium class to complete honors. BUT I want to try for departmental honors as well, which requires a 40+ page paper. Iranian studies would be an extra 17 classes to complete.

So, questions:
Is the unit cap still 216 for two majors?
Is it better to finish off my one degree (and save the money) in the six yearly semesters, or add summer school/another year and get two degrees?
Should I just eff-it and take the Near Eastern Minor instead?

I heard that doing a double major is worth the time. Minors are good for those who have an impacted major, supposedly. But that doesn’t seem to be the case. I’ll say, you should go for it and double major! (:

I’m also double majoring. When you apply, you don’t apply under two majors. You declare double major when once you’re in the school, but of course it’s wise to finish off pre-reqs before you transfer. And is this 216 unit cap - are you referring to once you’re in the school?

I’m already in UCLA as a History major(my major has one pre-req that can only be finished at the school). 216 is the cap you have for all four years. I think. So I can do 114 more units… eh. haha.

No you can’t. Your counting seems off though. There has to be more overlap. If you can get it done without exceeding time at ucla then you can go over unit cap
