So I’m really interested in getting an undergrad business degree in Int’l mangagement at BU, but I don’t want to give up a good liberal arts education. Anyone have any idea if you can double major in two separate schools?

See BUCOP. Search for it.

BUCOP is the BU Collaborative Degree program, http://www.bu.edu/com/undergrad/pdf/bucop_infosheet.pdf
Its sort of a super double major, you have to fulfill requirements in both colleges, which can be very taxing. It is a lot of work - especially between CAS and SMG. Also if you don’t have previous AP credits to place you out of both colleges requirements, you are going to have to take summer classes.

The point is that CAS and SMG are separate colleges, not departments within a single college. You can’t double major across colleges.

Even if you just fulfill the minimum requirements for a degree in SMG, you are not going to miss out on a good liberal arts education–about half of your classes are going to be taken outside of SMG (at least that’s how it was when I attended).

Nevertheless, it is possible to BUCOP with CAS and SMG–I did (I’ve typed quite a bit about it in past posts). I do caution that it is quite a bit of work, but I found it to be rewarding.

I was thinking about majoring in international management at SMG, but could some of the classes I take count as credit for both schools?

Yes–you can fulfill a requirement in both schools by taking one class.

yep… i am BUCOPing in econ and double concentrating in accounting/finance here at BU i’m an smg student though, and one of my EC305 (?) reqs is fufilled by one of my SMG required courses. alot of courses actually overlap in specific majors.

So how do you like it? Is the grading policy really as difficult as people seem to make it?
