Since bme covers topics in EE, would it be sensible to double major in biomedical engineering and EE? Also, how would a double major degree in bme and EE from duke compare to a EE degree from a school like cornell or berkeley?

Double majoring in my opinion is pointless. It takes too many extra classes and time away from having fun. Also, if you have a lower GPA with a double major than someone else with just an EE degree, it's a wash anyway.

If you really want to learn stuff from both fields, by all means double major. But don't do it because you think double majoring will make you look any better than someone else.

berkeley is a better engineering school. Also, two engineering majors would probably mean at least 5-6 years of school. You would probably be better off getting an advanced degree instead.

I would suggest perhaps getting an EE degree, and minoring in BIOE if the school allows that, otherwise try to take some of your electives in BIOE.

Oh, and if you get admitted to the school honors program, you could probably do some inter-disciplinary research and combine the two fields.

Getting two engineering degrees from those well known schools will take a long time to graduate with a decent GPA. And Berkeley is better of the three engineering schools
