I’m considering applying to comm as a transfer (as a film major, but I 'm more interested in critical studies not production) I was accepted as freshman but I can’t remember: what is comm’s policy on double majoring in CAS? Also, is you have any suggestions on the critical studies vs production thing… that would be great.

BU doesn't offer a double major. BUCOP is a dual degree program. It takes a lot of work and coordination between the two schools. You must fulfill the requirements of BOTH colleges.

My S is earning a BA in political science and a BS in public relations. This year, his junior year, almost all his courses are public relations. He had basically finished his political science requirements by end of sophomore year. Next fall he'll go to Washington, D.C. for his PR internship and some advanced poli sci classes.

You can't double major within COM. You can check that in the COM bulletin, which you can find on the BU site. As noted above, if you're in COM, you can get a dual degree from another school. You can also minor in just about anything.

is it easier to just get a minor in something rather than do the BUCOP program? are they basically the same thing?
i'll be majoring in communications studies and i'm thinking of double majoring or minoring in international relations.

BUCOP entails a lot of paperwork and bureaucratic hassles. You'd probably be better off minoring in IR.

They aren't the same thing. If you BUCOP, you literally get two degrees - like a BS from COM and a BA from CAS. Minoring is pretty easy.
