double majoring in mathematics

I am considering double majoring in mathematics lately. my love for math is growing as of late(im already teaching myself set theory for fun). do you think this is even manageable with my major(mechanical engineering)? i hope to attend cal or ucla(stanford is out of the question haha) so the academic rigor of these institutions might overwhelm me. thats basically what i am worried about.

It’s possible to double but something you should realize is that the math you’re doing at ccc is nothing like upper division math. Many prospective math majors dont realize this until it’s too late. The math departments at ucla and cal are extremely rigorous and I thinK it’d be very hard to find time to do anything fun while taking classes like analysis and fluid mechanics simultaneously. I’m a math and Econ double major at cal so feel free to ask me any more questions. Also I recommend you take discrete math before your first semester at cal or la. You’ll be expected to know how to do proofs from day one so stuff like knowledge of induction and stuff like contrapositives an proofs by contradiction are things they assume you are familiar with.
