Double Majoring in SCS and Tepper.

Hello, I have already committed to SCS, and I have an intent of majoring in Tepper, but I am confused as to how this works. When am I suppose to apply for the major? Do I need to take economics classes as an elective in freshman year? Who do I talk to? How does the requirements work? And etc. Will someone please answer my question?

You can’t declare a 2nd major in business until your junior year. You apply for the major as a junior after taking all the required courses (listed here: [Additional Major In Business Administration : Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon](http://www.tepper.cmu.edu/undergraduate-business/academics/additional-major-in-business-administration/index.aspx)).

The question is that with the requirements of those courses, am I suppose to start taking those. Purses as electives freshman year?

You should start taking them in freshman year, especially if they double count for CS requirements. I’m planning to double major in business and math and my advisor told me to take multiple math classes as a freshman.

How do you find out who your advisor is?

They contact you after you send in your deposit. I applied ED so that might be why I was contacted early.

Not in every major or school apparently. My son will also be in SCS, deposit paid in January, hasn’t been contacted by anyone. Somewhere on the SCS website, the professor who is the freshman advisor wrote that you will hear from them in May.

You can find the info if you go on the SCS page and search “freshman advisor”. The professor’s name is Jacobo Carrasquel and it says in red capital letters “nothing to do until May 20, 2013”. Of course, that doesn’t mean you can’t contact someone and ask questions! IMHO, it’s great that you are thinking ahead.
