Double majors and credit hours costs?

Hi all-

I had a quick question. Does UVA charge up to X amount of credits, or is the charge per-credit? For example, right now, I'm at ASU, and as long as I'm enrolled FT, I can take a 12, 15, or 18 credit load, and it doesn't cost any extra for the additional class or two. I'm wondering because I am interested in a double major (History and English) and am just wondering if this would be something that would be possible for a transfer student.

Any input or advice is appreciated. :)

There is no surcharge for overloading on credits. You can take 17 credits without getting permission from your dean is my recollection.

Fabulous. Thanks Hazel. :)

I know if your total # of credits is 10% over what’s required for you to graduate, you get a surcharge.

Here is the link that gives you the exact terms and conditions regarding the surcharge:

Do not want those coming into or at UVa with a lot of AP credits worrying.

Yes, the above policy carries out a state law that is designed to avoid students overstaying their welcome. Too many students were staying longer than needed to get a degree, and thereby were taking up a space that could go to another deserving student. Several other states have similar rules.
