With the core curriculum in place, would you say that it hinders or fosters double majors at Columbia College (not SEAS)? Would it be possible to double major in math and history? Has anybody heard of that combination? Thanks!

Bump… Any input from current Columbia students would be great.

I’m not sure what fosters/hinders means.

Of course the core makes it harder to do a double major if you’re comparing CC to a school like Brown where there are no requirements. But plenty of people do them without problems.

It’s fairly easy to double major if you work hard (and make the distribution requirements work in your favor). As C02 says, it’s obviously easy to double-major somewhere like Brown, but it’s quite easy to double major at Columbia so long as you don’t choose majors that are intense and unrelated.

Thanks for the input guys! So, I’m guessing math and history is possible to double major? They are unrelated but I guess they’re not “intense”?
