And, can anyone guess my chances of admission to UCLA as a philosophy major?

I did my first year of college at CSUCI. First semester I got a 2.7 because I was in the nursing majors (wrong major for me) second semester I got a 3.5. I then had to leave for a CCC because of heath reasons and have recieved a 4.0 at CCC. I will be applying with a 3.47 but not TAP because I didnt start out at CCC. Also, I have completed all prereq's. Thanks for any help you guys can give.

I heard (during a college tour/info session) that colleges are accepting MORE people now because of budget problems. That means, less “accepted” kids are qualifying for financial aid and are not enrolling so they have to accept more kids.

I’m probably the only one who feels this way but I don’t want the UCs (esp UCLA) to make it easier for students to be accepted. I’ve work really hard to get accepted and I don’t want the UC to take in people just because they need the money. I know this sounds horrible.
The easier it is for people to get accept the less prestigious the school is. just an opinion.

i agree with stacyadams on this one.

I totally agree with you on principle. LOL however because of medical problems last year I may be borderline this year
How about my particular chances? Sorry I know people hated being asked this but I am trying to gadge how stressed I should be and where I should apply. Thanks for responding :)

last yr students who majored in philo had an avg gpa of 3.49. [Profile of Admitted Transfer Students by Major, Fall 2009 - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/Adm_tr/Tr_Prof09_mjr.htm) they also had a high admit rate. I didn’t do TAG/TAP either. I’m a psych major. when you apply there will be a section where you put in extra info. Tell them why you couldn’t join tag/tap. Also, tell them about your medical condition. Some EC might help you. Bring up your gpa above 3.49. get all A’s from now on (an upward trend looks good). i hope this helps. good luck.

Luckily, I have always been very involved at school and the community so I dont have to worry about EC’s. I will do my best to get a 4.0 and raise my gpa above the average. I wish it was november already LOL I dislike waiting very much :)
