Double Science or Double Music?

Hi, I'm a Sophomore (despite what anything else may suggest) in high school. I'm picking my classes in a month, and I'm having a problem (obviously). I want to go into medicine, but at the same time, I love music - with a HUGE passion; I consider myself one of the better musicians in the school (to stay humble, anyway). However, I can't prove the latter to colleges right now; scheduling conflicts have forced me to skip two years of music classes, forcing me to take business electives (no interest) instead. On the coming junior year, I plan to take US history over the summer to make room for more classes.

However, based on the large amount of credits science classes take up, there's no way I can have the best of both worlds. So, of these four classes:

AP Chemistry
Honors Physics
Wind Ensemble/Jazz Ensemble (both are recognized by the region, anyway)
Intro to Music Theory

I need to take two/three of the above, preferably three. If things don't work perfectly, I'm thinking of taking Physics/[ensemble class]/Music Theory to show on my transcript that I took the three classes, but then again, AP Chemistry is important to show for medicine...

Help?

And yes I do very well in school. 4.0 GPA unweighted freshman year =)

Do what you WANT to do.

I’m trying to figure out what I want to do. In the meantime, I figured to see everyone else’s opinions while I think over it.

I would take AP Chem and 2 music classes. I hate physics.

My school has something called “Early Morning Jazz”, which counts as a class from…6:50 or 7:00 - 7:45 (start of school).

Perhaps your director should look into it for like-minded students like yourself?

I wish my school had a program like that…

Sadly, I can’t say so.

Aren’t there any outside-of-school extra curriculars that you could take up? Our school band isn’t all that great, so those with musical talent join other (not school bands and stuff. Worst comes to worst, you never take any music classes but send in a music supplement anyway to showcase your talent.

If you already know music, may I suggest this instead?

Take two sciences and the ensemble in school, but self-study AP music theory. If your school has the option, you may even get school credit for self-studying.

Binders, I don’t get credit for self-studying, unfortunately.

I’m thinking of also taking Physics over the summer too. Any possibilities?
