My Junior year’s course for me should look like this:
AP Chemistry, AP Biology, AP English Language, AP Calculus, AP Euro, Honors French IV. (No gym/health)
I don’t know if taking two ap science courses, especially these two, will be too hectic for me. I am only taking AP Human this year, while maintaining straight As. Also, AP English, calc, and euro don’t scare me that much. It’s just these two science courses that I’m worried about!
All of my junior friends who are only taking AP Chemistry say that it is already hard and time consuming, and they all have high Bs or low As in that class. I know that AP Biology is also really difficult in my school. The thing is, since I want to major in biology in college, I want to take AP Biology. But… I took chem during my sophomore year and biology during freshman year, so i feel that it would get mixed up.
On a sidenote, I take many after-school clubs, but I do my homework right when I get home. That is how I’ve kept up my grades so far. Plus, I’m taking the SATs this summer, so that I won’t have to worry about it during my junior year.
Unless you really want your GPA to tank, there is no way you should be taking 2 heavy duty AP science classes your junior year. What’s the rush? You can take one of them your senior year.
My recommendation is to take Chem next year and then Bio your senior year
Oh my God I would be dead by october. If you wanna double on science maybe do a physics honors and chem? You’re right about AP chem being easier if you take it right after regular chem.
My best friend is currently taking both AP bio and AP chem as a junior (I’m only taking AP bio along with 2 other APs- it’s pretty hard). It’s definitely hard for her, but not impossible. She has a high A in bio and a B in chem, but this is to be expected when such difficult courses are being taken together (on top of a couple other APs, honors classes & intensive sports). A lot of people at my school choose to take AP bio and honors physics junior year, then AP chem or AP physics senior year. Not sure if this is an option for you, but a lot of people I know like it Good luck with whatever you choose to do!
I agree with this. Many colleges want to see a year each of bio/math/chem, so if your really wanted to double up on science, I would fitl the whole with physics and then move the other AP to senior year.
