Is it possible to enroll in two colleges at once to get two separate degrees?
It’s possible - for example, Wellesley College has a five-year Dual-Degree program with M.I.T. A student earns a B.A. from Wellesley and an S.B. degree from M.I.T.
My S’s friend is doing a dual program at Case Western and the Cleveland Institute of Music - he will graduate with degrees from both.
I’m sure there other similar dual-degree programs offered.
However, if you don’t want to enroll in a set dual-degree program, you would need to check with both institutions to see what is possible.
If you need Financial Aid to attend both schools, you need to ask about Consortium Agreements.
Thank you so much!
Some other schools I am aware of with dual degree programs:
Brown/RISD
Harvard/New England Conservatory of Music
Columbia/Juilliard
Thanks! I was just thinking about the Columbia/Juilliard! Thank you so much!
If you’re specifically interested in music dual degree programs, here are a few more:
Johns Hopkins/Peabody
Tufts/New England Conservatory
Barnard/Juilliard
University of Rochester/Eastman School of Music
Thanks, yeah! I was thinking like music/biomedical engineering, if that combination exists. I know Columbia has a good BME program and of course Juilliard, so…but thanks so much!
You might find this essay on the Music Major forum helpful - http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/music-major/1948726-double-degree-dilemma-essay-written-by-david-lane.html
Double degree programs with Music almost always take 5 years, even if the two degrees are at the same school, so keep that in mind.
You might also look at Northwestern for a music/engineering double degree.
Thank you! @classicalsaxmom @college_query for all your help! It is much appreciated! I’ve heard that you can double major with engineering/music with a BS/MS.
